Congratulations to the Varsity Hockey Team that won two games this past weekend, advancing to Saturday’s State Championships in the South End. Pretty awesome in and of itself, but there's more. Our school has won this award eight times in the past 10 years and this year’s team achieved an outstanding average GPA of 3.48.
Way to go Cougars! Now let's go win state!

School Fair Letter
Dear Parents, Guardians, Teachers, Students and Alumni,
Warm greetings!
With the concerted efforts of the school community, our School’s Run for Charity @ 30 promises to be an event that is loaded with fun, something akin to a fair. It would be such a festive affair that waking up very early on May 25 (Sunday) will be well worth it!
Crossing the finish line will certainly be everybody’s goal. It doesn’t matter if one has to walk all the way or even crawl to the finish line. The important thing is to finish the race. On the other hand, top finishers in the different race categories will be entitled to a medal, but all the finishers shall be rewarded with a certificate of participation and loot bag filled with goodies.
Undoubtedly the race is the main event, but there will be other exciting activities as well. Major sponsors will set up booths offering freebies and games with prizes. There will also be a raffle afterwards.
Just to give you an idea, sponsors for loot bag items and raffle prizes include the following:
- 2 Tickets to the Philharmonic
- 1 year supply of Cheetos
- Fitness Gear
- Tucker Sports Gift cheques
- Vita Supplements
- $500 Amazon Gift cards
- Gold’s Gym
- ColorMePretty Shampoo Cleansing System
By the way, additional corporate sponsorships and donations for the fun run are more than welcome. Kindly look for Miss Rosie of the Ways and Means Committee at the Administration Office or Mr. Rikers our PTA treasurer who will gladly accommodate your pledges until June 25, 2013.
So don’t miss the fun on May 25 at Borroughs Stadium. See you at the starting line and hopefully at the finish line as well!
Sincerely yours,
Mr. Shane T. Owens

Notice of School Expansion
Dear Parents,
The PinesRow school is expanding its facilities. We have started the construction of elevator and escalator structures this June 2013. These projects which are currently going on, serve as a preparation for the housing of the new multi-purpose hall at the 7th floor of the school building. The said elevator can transport a maximum number of 30 persons from the ground up to the 6th level. Five escalators are also to be installed as an alternative mode of transport, allowing teachers, staff and students to move with ease between floors in relatively short amount of time. The students, in particular, would now be able to bring their bags easier, freeing them from carrying heavy loads.
The expansion of the PinesRow school building will benefit the whole community as the multi-purpose hall will be a gathering space for the students during school programs, activities and the like. This step towards campus facility development, hand-in-hand with continuous talk on providing holistic and academic services in progressive education, will help carry on the school’s mission and vision of producing spiritual adept and intellectually excellent community of learners.

School Letter about Scholars
Dear Students,
As the academic year progresses, goals are reached, and opportunities are unlocked. At the same time, activities pile up, and new challenges emerge. What keeps us going is the strength we draw from our experiences and the people around us. This is clearly at work at the Alumni Scholars Association -- the generosity and support of selfless alumni scholars have enabled deserving youth to receive the gift of an education. For their unceasing efforts, we give our sincerest thanks. We would like to share the stories of our 6 junior scholars and delve into their college journey -- one filled with ups and downs, but one that is ultimately memorable.
Be there for Scholar night!
Alum Coordinator

Touching School Letter Amidst Tragedy
Here's a well-written and touching school letter addressing the recent tragedy of the school shooting in Connecticut.
Dear Brebeuf Jesuit famiies,
I write to you today with both sadness and hope. The tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut, is a heartbreaking reality that shocks us into asking so many unanswered questions about how and why this kind of tragedy continues happening in our schools and across our nation.
There are no simple answers. There is only loss and hurt beyond measure for the families and friends of those innocent children and adults who lost their lives so unnecessarily yesterday.
In prayerful tribute, I encourage the entire Brebeuf Jesuit community to take a few quiet moments today, and in the days ahead, and gently ask God to care for these dear ones who are now by His side. I ask your prayers for their parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers, and all who loved them. We cannot diminish their inestimable hurt and loss, but we can be in communion with them in our prayer and consolation.
In this holy season of Advent and Chanukah let us take time to acknowledge and appreciate - over and over again - the gift and beauty of our own family and community, and to be united in the sacred hope that God is not yet discouraged with humanity, but still becomes incarnate in each new life and moment of grace.
May the prayers that flow from our classrooms, hallways and hearts each day at Brebeuf Jesuit become our song of hope for the days ahead. A.M.D.G.
God’s blessings,
Fr, Jack Dennis , S.J.

To our dear teachers Miss Emma, Mrs. Georges, and Mr. Williams (to name just a few) who worked tirelessly to put this together in such a short span of time. They did a fantastic job representing all the great ways to get involved, both on campus and in the community.

School Letter on 911 Anniversary
Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
On this anniversary of 9/11, we should feel grateful for our families and our friends, but most of all for the teachers, mentors, and guides. They are the ones who provide such essential grounding for our kids everyday -- whether it's a "normal day," or a day of immeasurable tragedy
To commemorate the anniversary of 9/11, students from our school district have start a letter campaign mailing letters of support to service men and women overseas. With this small meaningful gesture, may we recall the sacrifices made and lead the nation in a day of remembrance.
Sincerely,
Teacher Joseph

Letter Addressing Issues of School Violence
The San Beda College of Law condemns this unlawful and dreadful act of violence. We grieve over a life put to waste. The San Beda College of law condemns the system of brotherhood that employs violence, intimidation, intentional force, or reckless imprudence as part of any of its ceremonies or practices. Consequently, the school does not recognize their existence.
The San Beda College of Law seems to be quiet in the middle of this tragedy but rest assured that San Beda College of Law does not toil on half baked justice. In cases involving our law students, the San Beda Law administration immediately acts to protect their rights. For the past years, the admin first caters to the needs of the victims- confirm their identities, assist in their financial needs, coordinate with the police and the hospital, among others. It is the care for the victims and their families that are most essential. But while the admin is assuring the care for the victim and his family, they are taking the initial steps to seeking justice for their students.
The administration of the San Beda College of Law and the Law Student Government have already constituted a committee to conduct the investigation of the administrative aspect. We will fully cooperate in the investigation of the NBI and PNP.
The San Beda College of Law offers its sincerest grief and prayers to the family of Marvin. It upsets us that we can only do so much. We give our word that we will assist in attaining justice as we will exact every means necessary to appease your worn-out hearts and mind. The lion will not sleep until justice is served in its rightful form.
